Day 007 – Round 2 Tea Forte and One of a Kind Show
Today I tried the one named “Flora”. Not much description on the package except describing it as a ruby red tea.
Again, I followed the instruction, add boiling water and let it steeped for 4-5 mins. This time I used a clear mug and watched the ruby red colour slowly infused the hot water. It smelled like cinnamon and something else that I was familiar with but couldn’t put my finger on. Same with the taste. I felt like I tried this tea before. It tasted a bit sour.
As I was writing this posted, I looked on the Tea Forte Website and that’s when I realized why it tasted familiar. The key ingredient was hibiscus. It’s similar to the “Passion Tea’ by Tazo Tea that I got from Starbucks. My father-in-law introduced me to hibiscus tea when I caught the flu one time. He made it with lemon slices and some sugar. It was really soothing and I believe it helped getting me better quicker.
Again, I didn’t think it have to be Tea Forte just because of it’s pretty packaging. One could get similar tea with less pretty packaging for cheaper.
Disclaimer… I am not an expert tea drinker so my comment about the tea is strictly base on my own preference. For those experts, they might be able to tell the difference with this special silken pyramid infuser.
Aside from trying tea, I went to the One of a Kind Show in Toronto with my mom. It was held at the Direct Energy Centre which is a relative big venue. The place was packed. Mostly women and some with strollers and kids. We started walking through the show systematically going through each row. I had noticed that there were lots of them selling baby stuff, puppets, and jewellery. I wasn’t impressed with the big jewellery stores though. I wasn’t expecting them to be at “One of a Kind” type show. Also some of the people were selling stuff that seemed to be mass produced. Aside from that there were couple of artists that I was really impressed with.
There was this booth I passed by and wondering who would sell a black and white photo of a chair in front of a window?? Seemed like anybody could have easily taken a similar photograph. As I took another look at the booth, that’s when I realized the artist used charcoal and those are art work not photographs. Pretty realistic looking. Here is her website “www.lauriesponagle.ca”
Speaking of realistic, Karl made pretty realistic miniature animals. I was really impressed with the details he put into all the miniatures.
Then there was this artist from Nova Scotia using pebbles to create art work. The colour from the pebble and her composition was really intriguing. Check out her work at “pebbleart.ca”
On the comedic side, Joel created these puppets that seem so simple but very cute especially the popcorn size ones. It’s great to use during a conference call or try to make someone stop talking on a Go Train. Well, I still have to yet to test it out. The pictures on the website didn’t do them justice. You just have to play with the real thing. “www.banjopuppets.com”
How could I not check out the food section. I am not a big fan of Shortbread but Coach House Shortbread Company changed me. They gave out samples of their different flavor shortbread and I had to say, they are amazing. The most amazing part is the texture of these cookies. They just melt in your mouth. Check out the website, they have a couple open house dates before Christmas where you can pick up some of these delicious cookies. “www.shortbread.ca”
Aside from filling up my stomach, this show was a great inspiration for things that I could do during my spare time.
