Day 009 – Still in Chicago

Woke up this morning and it was snowing. Yuck. Luckily it stopped pretty early and the weather turned around.

My husband had to attend conference today so I was on my own.  In the morning I went to the Shedd Aquarium. “http://www.sheddaquarium.org/” It was located within the museum campus area (where the Field Museum, Soldier’s Field, and Adler Planetarium were located as well)  I was there at 8.30am but it didn’t open till 9am.  I walked around the area and enjoyed the view of the Chicago skyline and fresh snow on trees and grounds.  I was enjoying the moment but at the same time asking myself why I was so stupid that I forgot the camera.

The aquarium was not too big but had many exhibitions.  The most impressive one was the one called Wild Reef.  Lots of tropical fish and shark tank.  I was quite surprise to see shark’s egg.  Never seen one before and didn’t know what to expect.  They had a light shining behind it so you could see the baby shark moving inside the egg sac.  They also have different kind of rain forest frogs that are very colourful but of course very poisonous.  Took me about 2hrs to walk around the entire museum and I spent another half hour watching their show “Fantasea” featuring their sea lion, beluga whales, red tail eagles, penguins, and dolphins.

After spending the entire morning at the aquarium, I walked around town to checked out couple places that I found interesting from our walk and cruise yesterday.

The River City, Chicago Metropolitan Correctional Center, Millenium Park, Aqua Condominium, and the Art Institute of Chicago.

I was totally exhuasted after a long day of walking.  Check tomorrow post for my next adventure in Chicago.
