Day 011 – Heading home

Our flight home is in the afternoon so I had the morning to walk around town.  I went up to the Gold Coast area.  There were lots of high end stores like Tiffany, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani and etc.  Unfortunately all the stores didn’t open till 10 and I was in there around 9ish.  I didn’t want to stand in the wind and snow to wait for them to open.  I just kept moving.  Came across this one stores in an very interesting building.  Beautiful carving on the exterior and their display looked very interesting.  It’s call “Bloomingdale’s” .  They had very intricate stain glass that could be seen from the inside but they didn’t let me take any pictures.  Bummer.

Since it was still a bit early to meet up with my husband, I went to “Argo Tea” to warm up.  They seemed to have lots of interesting tea and since I am a chocoholic, I opted for the Chocolate Mint Green Tea.  They brewed fresh for me and it smelled delicious.  I didn’t taste any chocolate or mint at the beginning but it sort of came as an after taste.  Not bad.  I ended up picking some other tea as souvenirs and one for myself.

That was pretty much it for the time in Chicago.  We went to the airport to see if we could get on an earlier flight due to the weather condition.  Turned out the earlier flight was cancelled so we spent quite a bit of time in the airport till we boarded.
To sum it all up, it was quite an adventure for me.   Walked around town by myself, and tried new restaurants, foods and drinks.  The only thing I really wanted to try but didn’t get to was the famous Chicago deep dish pizza.  It looked pretty  greasy and heavy but it must be good if it’s Chicago’s signature food.   Ah well, I guess I will just have to go back one of these days or I will have to find a recipe to figure out how to make one myself.
And now I need to go get a shower and get ready to go back to work tomorrow.  Well, at least I know the weekend is around the corner.
