Day 026 – C for Clams…

I think I am ready for Christmas.  Fridge is stocked up and house is cleaned.

While I was at Diana’s Seafood yesterday, I saw these “pasta clam”.  They seemed relatively affordable (C$4.99/lb) so I picked up a pound.  Kept them in the fridge for overnight and this morning I saw one that seemed to be dead so I was a bit worried they would not last.

Soaking the clams

Since my sister in law insisted on cooking tonight, and the clams probably won’t last till tomorrow, I attempted to make it for lunch.

I looked up some quick recipes and found one only required butter, garlic and white wine at “allrecipes.com“.   I didn’t have wine available but I had chicken stock so I substituted.  Sauteed the butter and garlic then add in the clams.   And then add the chicken stock, covered it and let it steam for couple quick minutes.  (Used the Gordon Ramsay – Fry pan from the Everyday Cookware set, the big lid fit perfectly for the steaming and the steam vent worked well)  Viola.  Simple. Quick and Tasty.  They were a bit to the salty side but it brought out the taste of the clams.  Could really taste the difference between frozen clams and fresh ones.  It’s worth going to get the fresh ones for sure.

Clam in Fry Pan

Almost dinner time, have to go help my sister in law.  Will update the last couple day post later on.  Hopefully I can find some time.

Wishing you and your love one (hoping there is someone out there reading my blog) a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :)
