Day 036 – Yes more food related posted

I mentioned that I would try to get away from writing food related posted but it seemed impossible.  After last night sinful cravings, I knew I have to take some action in our diet before it went totally out of hand.

Since we both have to go back to work today, I started to plan our meals for tomorrow so we don’t have to worry about it.  It will be simple grab and go.  What I tried was to figure out the calories intake required and worked out the meal based on that.

Found this website that had calories as well as nutritional information on food – “caloriecount.about.com“  And this website helped you figure out what your calories intake should be per day – “freedieting.com”

It wasn’t an easy task.  I tried to include food that we liked and had a balanced diet.  It took me hours to sort out 1 day worth of meal.  I also prepped the meal into containers so hopefully this would made our first day back to work easier.  Wonder how long we could keep this up.  It’s almost like another job on it’s own.  I guess that’s why there are dietitian/nutritionist out there.

As for tonight, I wanted to try this meatball recipes.  We both loved meatball but the calories on them are ridiculous.  One one we bought was by irresistible.  6 tiny meatballs = 230 calories with 16g of fat.  I found this lean grounded sirloin meat at Metro Supermarket and it’s quite good.  That’s what I will use and will update this posted to include the math etc… with regards to the home made meatball.  The recipe is on HERE.

Here’s the update on the meat balls.  I managed to made 43 pieces out of the package and after calculating the calories…weight…etc…(my brain really hurt after all the math) The difference between the one that’s bought and the one I made wasn’t that far off.  Did it worth the trouble?  I wasn’t sure .   I used my Gordon Ramsay cookware for the task but was relatively disappointed.  Not sure if it’s something I did or what, the balls stuck to it and when I tried to flip them, they started to fall apart.   I had quite a battle with them but managed to save quite a few of the meat balls.   Surprisingly though, the pan cleaned up pretty easily.  Soaked in soap and hot water for a bit, everything came up easy.

I made it with a new sauce (Garlic and Mushroom) I picked up from Metro.  Both my hubby and I quite enjoyed it.    I think for now, I might just stay away from meat balls in general if I wanted to loose weight.
