Day 058 – I want to bite my chicken

Yup.. another food related post and another chicken recipe.

Whole fresh chicken was on sale this week at Metro supermarket.  Buy one get one free so it was hard to resist.  Beside it’s relatively easy to make.  Just throw it in the oven and that’s it.

My hubby seemed to be complaining last time when I roast a whole chicken that it was boring.  All I did was rub olive oil, salt and pepper on the chicken.  It came out crispy but he said it’s kind of blah.   I did a quick search on the internet and went for a honey garlic recipe.  As you could see here, it meant more for chicken legs but I used the basic ingredients, honey, soy sauce, garlic and vinegar to create a sauce.

I figured honey and the garlic would burn pretty quickly so I roasted the chicken with olive oil alone first.  I then basted the chicken with this sauce.  Unfortunately I mis-calculated the time required for the chicken and added the sauce too soon.  As expected, the skin was slightly burnt.  It’s crispy though.  I was hoping the sauce would stick on the chicken more but it was too thin and just slide right off.  May be I needed to use a thicker honey next time and slighly less soy sauce. Overall it wasn’t too bad.
